Strongpoint grew out of a passion to provide clients exceptional marketing communications functioning as an integral part of their team. In 2003 when Mary Rowley founded the firm, she had spent more time on the client side of the desk than on the agency side, and her goal was to create the agency she would have wanted to hire as a corporate marketing director. That idea had traction and today Strongpoint still counts original clients among its current “partners.” The business grew from word of mouth, reputation and referrals, doubling its billings every year in the first five years, with specialties in education, non-profits and crisis communication. Jan Howard – Strongpoint vice president, partner, and former client – joined the agency in 2005 from a 20-year career in corporate healthcare marketing, adding another dimension to the practice. In 2008 Strongpoint opened an office in San Francisco, headed by Jennifer Malleo Osinga. Then in 2010 the firm acquired Marketing Intelligence, a market research company with which Rowley had partnered on a variety of successful projects for more than a decade. Today as Strongpoint Market Research, it is led by Chris Baker. Most recently Strongpoint added an East Coast office, headed by longtime PR pro Jim Donahue, in Wilmington, DE. Strongpoint continues to grow, adding expertise in mining, retail, restaurants and social media.
